Helping women celebrate their bodies! Our self-care checklist for the modern woman

NW by Natasha Whiting

Being a female-founded company ourselves, Kollo Health is all about supporting women, their bodies and the amazing things they do every day. This International Women’s Day, we wanted to celebrate all this and more: women's achievements, their strength in fighting inequality, promoting women-owned businesses and raising money for female-focused charities. What’s not to love?

Women are leading the change they want to see in the world: they’re championing each other, fighting for equal standing and lobbying for change, while also going about their usual day-to-day lives.

Sometimes though, it can be easy to forget to take time out for yourself when all this is going on, so in the spirit of International Women’s Day, we've created an easy five-point self-care checklist for the modern woman.

Self-care checklist for the modern woman

  1. Get your skincare regime down

When your skin feels good, you feel good, and it’s all about finding the right products that work for you. If you want your skin to be more hydrated, radiant and bright, or you’re looking to improve suppleness, elasticity and ageing, then you need our trusty skincare staple: Liquid Marine Collagen. Your skin will thank you for it.

  1. Take five minutes in the morning to practise mindfulness

Whether that’s having your morning coffee while sitting in your garden, doing some breathing exercises, or logging into a mindfulness app, taking five minutes to concentrate on the present will help you feel ready to take on the day. Even your skincare routine can be a mindfulness exercise as you dedicate the time to go through it properly: cleansing, toning and moisturising (with your new BFF, collagen).

  1. Stay hydrated

Being a hard-working woman is thirsty work! So support your body by staying hydrated. When you wake up in the morning, make sure you’re having a glass of water before your coffee. Hydrating at the start of your day will set you up for success (or at least have you feeling more energised to chase after success!).

  1. Move around for 30 minutes a day

Whether it’s a lunchtime stroll or an at-home workout, exercise is good for your mental and physical health. Don’t worry if you can’t sacrifice 30 minutes of your day all at once – split it into two 15-minute bouts. If you’re struggling with muscle aches and joint pain, our marine collagen can help with that too!

  1. Read a book or listen to a podcast before bed

In other words: say goodnight to your phone! You’ve had a busy day, and your mind needs time to decompress before it can give you a good rest. So, after you’ve taken the time to do a proper skincare routine, put your phone on silent and turn to that book you’ve been meaning to read, or the podcast you never have time to listen to. If that doesn’t help you switch off, turn to your mindfulness exercises again. Whatever you do, don’t pick up your phone!

This five-point daily checklist, coupled with our Liquid Marine Collagen, will help you bring your A-game every day. This checklist will also have a profound effect on your mental health, helping you to feel healthier, more connected to yourself and ready to take on the world!

We’ve also compiled a collection of stories from other women about their journey using Kollo, and we’ve even got a blog post on the self-care staples you should have in your handbag (because you can never give yourself too much TLC!). Whatever you do ladies, make sure you're taking some time for YOU this International Women's Day - and every day!
