Feeling stressed? Reach for the supplements

There are plenty of things in life that can cause us to feel stressed, but if we allow these feelings to take over, our health could soon start to suffer. The good news is that when stress comes calling, there's a range of supplements that can help to combat the negative effects.

Collagen

Amongst many other things, collagen is needed for healthy hair and skin. When you feel stressed, a hormone called cortisol is released in the body, which can reduce how effectively collagen works. By hindering how collagen functions, cortisol could encourage the formation of fine lines and wrinkles in the skin, accelerating the ageing process. Therefore, to help stay young-looking and keep stress at bay, a Kollo collagen supplement could be just the ticket.

Vitamin B

When it comes to conquering stress through supplementation, team vitamin B are the star performers. In fact, countless studies prove that those who take vitamin B supplements experience lower levels of stress, by boosting brain chemistry and optimising neurotransmitters for improved brain functioning. But, how does each vitamin B type play a role in thwarting stress? As an example, vitamin B1 is said to help stabilise mood, while vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 boost serotonin, the feel-good hormone.

Vitamin C

We tend to associate vitamin C with bolstering immunity and waging war on colds, but a number of studies have concluded that this all-important vitamin can lower the effects of stress on both the mind and body. Vitamin C can also help reduce cortisol levels, which are elevated during stressful times, and can wreak havoc on the body.

Essential amino acids

Amino acids promote daily wellness and good health in many different ways, but, in particular, they can counteract the impact of stress. Amino acids help form neurotransmitters in the brain and boost feel-good hormones, which regulate healthy brain functioning. They are also known to help keep cortisol levels on an even keel, further reducing the negative impact of stress on the mind and body.

By taking a Kollo premium liquid collagen supplement that has added B and C vitamins, as well as essential amino acids, you're combining all the right ingredients to conquer the effects of stress.
