How to boost your muscle mass

Are you looking to increase your muscle mass? Whether you want to bulk up or just get a bit stronger and more toned, there are plenty of ways that you can build the muscles in your body. In this article, we'll go through them!

Start lifting weights

This is the most obvious one - if you want to build your muscles, you should work them! Lifting weights is the best way to start building muscle mass. Start with some manageable weights for a few sets, and gradually increase your size and number of sets and reps.

You can work whatever muscle groups you'd like to focus on most, but it's a good idea to build both your upper body and lower body at the same time. Doing some exercises that focus on your legs and glutes, some for your chest and some for your back is a good start. Here is some advice for starting to lift weights

Eat more protein

Protein builds muscle, so ensure that you have enough in your diet when starting on your muscle mass journey. Obvious sources of protein are chicken, fish, meat, eggs and dairy - but if you're vegetarian or vegan don't worry, there are plenty of plant-based protein sources too. Beans and nuts are excellent protein sources, but there is also a lot of protein in plain old fruit and veg too! If you are really worried about not getting enough protein, you can also add a protein shake to your diet.

Take a supplement

Many supplements, including collagen, can increase muscle mass. Anywhere between 1-10% of your muscle tissues is collagen, so consuming more can help to boost this part of the muscle. This is especially true for people who have lost muscle mass due to age (sarcopenia or other factors). Collagen can also help muscle growth after exercise and promote the increase of muscle proteins, such as creatine.

Kollo is a collagen supplement that helps with muscle recovery and could boost muscle mass as well. It also has loads of other health benefits, from helping with insomnia to aiding digestion! Click here to read more about Kollo.
